As ‘modern' musicians began to play in 'ensembles' in the early decades of the 20th century, resonator guitars emerged in response to the need for guitarists to compete with other powerful-sounding instruments, like banjos and mandolins, in terms of the volume of their instrument's sound. Later, they had to contend with the growing number of wind instruments of American jazz. The resonator was constructed using a clever approach that involved inserting one or more light metal vibrating cones into the guitar's body. In accordance with a function that is strikingly similar to that of the 'cones' of electric loudspeakers, these were connected to the bridge by the vertex. The direct contact between the strings and the cones significantly increased the vibrations. The resonator guitar excels in the quick arpeggios that are typical of rural American music because of its combination of midrange frequencies, strong attack, and low sustain. A 20-fret South American Roupana fingerboard, a mahogany neck, a spruce top, and Sapeli laminated mahogany back and sides make up the Eko Guitars Resonator. It has a glossy finish, a 43mm nut, a 650mm scale length, and it mounts a mini-humbucker bearing the Eko brand with volume and tone controls.
